DOCUMENTARY FEATURE 110 MINS. | 35mm
Five 16 year-old girls…growing up in the 90s. Talk 16 - a world of B-girls and B-boys, browners, normals, thrashers, posers, and posses. For 1 year, filmmakers Janis Lundman and Adrienne Mitchell immersed themselves in teen culture in Toronto. More than 350 fifteen-year-old girls were interviewed before the producers settled on the final 5 girls whose day-to-day lives became the focus of the film. Talk 16 shows the unique conflicts, fears and desires of these unforgettable young women as they face a bewildering array of influences from sex and drugs, church and family to gangs and music and competing youth cultures. Sometimes shocking and sobering, at other times funny and touching, Talk 16 is a journey of discovery and reflection, resulting in an unprecedented document of teens in the 90’s. Featuring: Astra, Erin, Helen, Lina and Rhonda.
